Home Remedies for Cold Cough and Congestion

29 December 2023

1. In the morning and at night, eat a handful of freshly roasted chickpeas with turmeric and salt. After eating this, avoid consuming any liquids, not even water. Also, avoid foods like ghee, milk, sugar, jaggery, sour items, and fruits. This is a cost-effective remedy for those suffering from cold and cough.

2. After meals, regularly consume roasted ajwain (carom seeds) mixed with turmeric and salt as a mouth freshener. This helps alleviate cold and cough.

3. Inhale the smoke of ajwain seeds. Place a handful of ajwain seeds in a cloth pouch and inhale the smoke. Avoid sweets, sour items, and oily foods.

4.  During excessive cold and cough, when the nose is blocked, the head feels heavy, and there is restlessness, you can take a hot water steam with a few drops of eucalyptus oil or camphor added to it. Cover your head with a thick cloth or towel and inhale the steam. This provides quick relief from cold and congestion.
Please note that these are traditional home remedies, and if your condition persists or worsens, it's important to consult a healthcare professional.
